Name brand products of any sort are generally trusted staples in any household. However, store-bought products often contain harmful chemicals and can be quite expensive. Organic alternatives may allow you to avoid chemicals, but they are usually considerably more expensive than their non-organic counterparts. However, you can make organic, homemade versions of many products for a fraction of the cost. In the case of beauty products, you also have the added benefit of personalizing colors and scents to your liking.

Soy Candles
If you love burning candles, don’t waste your money at expensive candle shops, make your own candles out of soy.

Soap Scum Cleaner
For tricky soap scum, don’t use fancy scum remover, just use dish soap and vinegar.

 All-Purpose Cleaner
If you want a less specific cleaner or avoid the cost of one of the best all-purpose cleaners, try this DIY all-purpose cleaner for all your cleaning needs.

Mosquito Spray
You can keep mosquitoes away in many different ways, but a spray is definitely one of the best methods. If you find yourself without insect repellant, witch hazel and essential oils will do the trick.

Homemade Febreze
Love the smell of Febreze but hate the price? Just make your own with fabric softener, water, and baking soda. And for carpet odor from your pets, make your own carpet refresher and remove all bad smells our of your carpet.

Magic Eraser
Did you know you could purchase the base ingredient of magic credit cards dumps erasers for a fraction of the price?

Mouthwash
Forgo the name brand mouthwash, and make your own mint flavor version that kills germs and is milder than most store-bought mouthwashes.

Hand Sanitizer
Witch hazel, rubbing alcohol, and peppermint extract make convenient do-it-yourself hand sanitizers you can take anywhere.

 Mattress stain remover

Mix 1 part white vinegar with 10 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray it on the mattress stain and let it sink in for 30 minutes. Re-apply and the stains will be gone. An excellent way if you don’t know how to remove stains from a mattress.
